Tango! Or to be precise ‘London Tango’. The Romano Viazzani Ensemble give us an exciting preview of the music for their forthcoming album celebrating the capital’s relationship with the Argentine dance form as well as some of the most evocative and exhilarating original tango music from Argentina and around the world including works by Astor Piazzolla.

The Four Seasons² – Wednesday 6 February 2019, 7.30pm . So great to see accordionist Ksenija Sidorova back in the UK with amazing new arrangements of two major works. Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and Astor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. What does Italian baroque music have in common with Argentinian tango? They’re both full of rhythm and dance, both have freedom to embellish and improvise. Hear the two meet as we take one of orchestral music’s most recognisable pieces and reinvent it with a Latin twist, including both violin and accordion soloists.

“The Spirit of Tango” featuring Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi on Friday 4 May at 7.30 pm in the Duke’s Hall, RAM. The internationally renowned Bandoneon virtuoso performs alongside Academy string, piano and accordion students with a programme inspired by tango music. Tickets are £7.50 (concessions £5.50) from the Academy’s Box Office.

Accordion-lovers should not miss the Deco Ensemble’s concert on the 9th of July at 8pm at the Purcell Room (Southbank Centre) in London with accordionist Bartosz Glowacki. Glowacki, who is studying at The Royal Academy of Music has just finished his undergraduate course and has been very busy working both with the Deco Ensemble and as a soloist.
