UKAAT Accordion Teachers and Students Workshop in Leeds 24th February 2024

After last Summer’s successful workshop, UKAAT organise another in Leeds

UKKAT has always aimed to be a national educational association and for the first time away from the capital, the fertile accordion hub of Leeds through Diocese of Leeds Music has stepped up to invite UKAAT to co-organise an event in Yorkshire,  The venue will be the Wheeler Hall, adjacent in the to the beautiful neo-gothic/arts and crafts-style St Anne’s Cathedral in Leeds city centre.

WE will be covering the usual topics to help accordion teachers, students and supporters broaden their knowledge of all things accordion. Past UKAAT events have featured to big stars of the world of Jazz in Simone Zanchini, Karen Street and Renzo Ruggieri as well as a masterclasses and speeches given by classical accordionists/teachers Owen Murray and Qianyu Zhang.  This year we are lucky to have UK-based folk accordionist Paul Hutchinson taking the specialist workshop of the day.and will see contributions from Leeds Diocese’s own accordion teachers Valerie Barr, Anthony Beckwith and (virtually) professor of accordion from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Djordje Gajic.

The event will run from 09.45 to 17.45 and participants are encouraged to bring their accordions to join in the workshops! Great fun!
