Ksenija Sidorova at Kings Place with Thomas Hampson – May 28th 2026 at 19.30

Ksenija Sidorova by night

Never miss the opportunity to see and hear Sidorova perform in whatever capacity she is in

It’s so wonderful and refreshing to see the accordion ably supporting a baritone in a role that might otherwise be taken by the piano.  It will bring new colour to the music of Schubert and Stravisnsky for sure and more authenticity in the music of Weill and Piazzolla, especially when in the hands of an accordion megastar like Ksenija Sidorova.

With more than 150 recordings, 80 operatic roles and a career that has taken him to the world’s greatest concert halls, Thomas Hampson is one of the most influential baritones of our time. For this special London appearance, he joins the electrifying accordionist Ksenija Sidorova, a trailblazer for her instrument and a collaborator with artists from Nemanja Radulović to Paavo Järvi, for a strikingly original programme.
At its heart is a fresh look at Schubert’s Winterreise, where the voice and accordion uncover new colours: at times sardonic, at times heartbreakingly intimate. These songs stand alongside the razor-sharp cabaret world of Kurt Weill, often hailed as the “Schubert of the 20th century”. Pieces such as the iconic Youkali reveal Weill’s blend of nostalgia and disquiet, a musical lens on a Europe poised on the brink of turmoil.

The journey continues with a meeting of two tangos: Piazzolla’s smouldering Tango Nuevo and Stravinsky’s witty, rhythm-twisting take on the form. Together, they show how the tango can be reimagined – sensual, subversive and endlessly reinvented.

A bold, atmospheric and brilliantly curated evening from two exceptional artists.

This event will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, including an interval.
