A truly fabulous book by the Danish accordionist Rune Cygan Barslund. This book treats folk music with a completely modern approach and with the greatest of respect, and about time too! There are extensive notes at the beginning of the book which really help with the interpretation of the music. The pieces are in 3 sections: Music from Ireland; Music from Scotland; Original Compositions. These beautifully arranged pieces have properly written-out left hand parts but also have chord symbols and although the book says “For Free Bass Accordion” there are many instances where standard bass and chords are used. ZZ Music cannot recommend this book more. Currently only available in hardback form.
