Maidstone Music Festival is an adjudicative music festival, open to amateur performers of all ages and levels of ability.
It provides opportunities to perform individually to an audience, and to receive educative adjudication from highly qualified musicians.
All entrants are awarded a certificate, classified according to merit, and a personal written appraisal of their performance.
Maidstone Music Festival is open to amateur performers of all ages and levels of ability. Various classes are offered within the following categories:
- Piano
- Bowed strings
- Plucked strings
- Woodwind, brass, recorders
- Accordions, concertinas, melodeons, harmonicas
- Mixed instrumental ensembles
- Solo versatility
- Singing
- Musical theatre
- Folk music
Whilst most classes are competitive, there are also some non-competitive classes, including some for family ensembles, and professional musicians may take part in the ‘open’ classes.
Workshops and masterclasses will be given this year by Craig Ogden (guitar) and Paul Harris (wind).
