The first accordion soloist to feature on BBC’s Last Night of the Proms is back in the UK
It’s always wonderful to see the success of Latvian-born Ksenija Sidorova trail-blazing for the accordion. After studying under Owen Murray at the Royal Academy of Music in London Sidorova’s career has become meteoric, which is extraordinary in the world of classical music let alone the accordion world. Her amazing success at Last Night of the Proms in 2021 demonstrated that the accordion is much more accepted in the world of serious music and that she is not only an excellent player and great to watch but that she is also a very personable individual who one instantly warms to on the TV.
She will be back in London at the Wigmore Hall on 26th March 2022 with Avi Avital on mandolin with a concert which see the music of Bartok, Mozart, Stravinsky, De Falla, Villa Lobos, Saint-Saens and Kreisler. One concert no self-respecting accordion lover should miss.
