Congratulations to Djordje Gajic and Ryan Corbett – BBC Radio 3 In Tune Christmas Gala Concert

Royal Conservatoire of Scotland accordionists on BBC Radio 3

Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s professor of accordion Djordje Gajic and one of his students Ryan Corbett performed with a host of other musicians for BBC Radio 3′ In Tune programme in their Christmas Gala Concert on December 20th 2022.  It so important for our instrument to be seen at high profile events like this.  In 2021 Ksenija Sidorova appeared on The Last Night of the Proms and practically stole the show!  It’s a testament to how far the accordion has come in the national consciousness since the “Accordion Dark Ages” of the 70s, 80s and 90s where it hardly ever featured on mainstream media let alone in the “Ivory Towers” of classical and serious contemporary music. Congratulations to them both for this appearance and the superb rendition of Bach’s Prelude in Eb for St Anne,  Further congratulations to Ryan Corbett for becoming a BBC New Generation Artist too! That must be a first for sure.
