Accordion Department Events for Spring 2017

A wonderful programme of concerts and masterclasses organised by the accordion department of the Royal Academy of Music this spring featuring no less than three visiting accordion professors from around the world.

Wednesday 3rd May 2.30 – 5.30 pm  Free – Accordion Lecture-Recital with Corrado Rojac, professor of accordion at the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatorio di Musica of Trieste, who gives his first UK lecture on The First Italian Accordion Method 1839 by Giuseppe Greggiati and plays some of the many pieces from the book.  This book, which feature rare original romantic repertoire written for the accordion, was first featured in an article by ZZ Music in 2015 (Read Article)

 

Tuesday 9th May 1.05 – 2.00 pm – Iosif Purits Recital in the David Josefowitz Recital Hall, Free (no tickets required).  Solo-chamber pairing of pieces with Cecilia Bignall on cello.  Programme details will be found on the online Events listings soon.

 

Monday 15th May 2.00 – 5.00 pm – Accordion Masterclass with Borut Zagoranski, Associate Professor of Accordion at the Academy of Music, University of Ljubljana, and Juraj Dobrila University of Pula.

 

Friday 19th May 7.30 pm – David Josefowitz Recital Hall – Tickets £7.50 (concessions £5.50) from the Academy’s Box Office.  CONCERT – Solo and chamber music works by JS Bach, Scarlatti, Piazzolla, Efrem Podgaits and Berio.

 

Thursday 22nd June 10.00 am – 1.00 pm Free (no tickets required) – Accordion Masterclass with Mie Miki, professor of accordion at the Folkwang University of the Arts, Essen.

Royal Academy of Music Accordion Events for February 2017

After the incredible success of the Art of Tango event with Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi earlier this month the Royal Academy of Music Accordion Department focuses on another important part of the accordion repertoire: the Russian school.  Friedrich Lips arguably the foremost authority on this repertoire will be in residence for this wonderful free event to which all accordionists, accordion teachers and students will find extremely interesting and enlightening.

Royal Academy Accordion Events for March 2016 – March 8th 2016

Master class

March 8th will see Professor Raimondas Sviackevicius, Head of accordion at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, in Vilnius, Lithuania take an accordion Masterclass at the Royal Academy of Music.  This is open to the public and is free. The session is at 10.00 am – 16.30 pm with a lunch  break between 12.00 to 13.00.

This is a great opportunity for accordion teachers and students alike to see a visiting professor work through pieces with the accordion students of the Royal Academy of Music.

 

Concert Exam

Later the same day at 17.00 you will be able to see two of the students perform in their accordion concert exam.  An audience is welcomed.  This will take place in the David Josefowitz Hall at the Royal Academy.
