Tango! Or to be precise ‘London Tango’. The Romano Viazzani Ensemble give us an exciting preview of the music for their forthcoming album celebrating the capital’s relationship with the Argentine dance form as well as some of the most evocative and exhilarating original tango music from Argentina and around the world including works by Astor Piazzolla.

It’s always wonderful to see visiting professors from the world’s most renowned conservatoires come to London and work with the accordion students of the Royal Academy of Music. The students really get to show how quickly they are able to pick up on the teacher’s ideas and it’s always inspiring for any attending teachers and students alike to see how much can be achieved within one master class with the RAM students. Sevenoaks Three Arts Festival – Saturday 8th, Sunday 9th, Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th June 2019. This is one of two popular music festivals in the South East of England who include and actively encourage the participation of accordionists. Maidstone Music Festival was last November and now June see the return of neighbouring festival Sevenoaks Three Arts Festival in June 2019.

The Four Seasons² – Wednesday 6 February 2019, 7.30pm . So great to see accordionist Ksenija Sidorova back in the UK with amazing new arrangements of two major works. Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and Astor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. What does Italian baroque music have in common with Argentinian tango? They’re both full of rhythm and dance, both have freedom to embellish and improvise. Hear the two meet as we take one of orchestral music’s most recognisable pieces and reinvent it with a Latin twist, including both violin and accordion soloists.

Accordion Master Class at the Royal Academy of Music with Alfred Melichar – 24th January 2019, Thursday 24 January 2019 from 10.00 to 13.00. Masterclass will be at the RAM in the Concert Room and will be taken by visiting professor Alfred Melichar who is professor of accordion at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz who will be working with the students of the accordion department on their pieces.
