The Southern Cone Quintet led by the brilliant James Kitchman on Guitar are having two outings very soon. The first is this week and it will be accordionist Inigo Mikeleiz-Berrade’s second concert with this wonderful new ensemble.
Every Thursday at Kansas Smitty’s Bar, The Shed challenges listeners with an ever-changing list of performers that the minds behind Smitty’s have curated to entertain and enlighten. You may think that going to see a classical accordionist or Indian Sarod player is out of your comfort zone, but trust that the Smitty’s team won’t lead you astray. The Shed is always forward thinking, but most importantly, always good.
This weeks guest, James Kitchman, has played Smitty’s quite a few times, but never like this. The jazz guitarist will be deviating from the jazz idiom with his band Southern Cone Quintet. The Quintet specializes in the sounds of Argentinian tango and bandoneon music.
