 The Romano Viazzani Ensemble has gathered in its ranks some of the finest musicians from the world of classical, jazz and Latin American music to bring to its audiences Tango-inspired music using an instrumental line-up similar to Astor Piazzolla’s famous quintet. With this combination of Corinna Hentschel on violin, Romano Viazzani on accordion, John Bailey on piano, Jonathan Preiss on guitar and Yaron Stavi on double bass they not only perform the music of Piazzolla as it was originally intended but also use this combination of sounds to bring us new music as well as traditional Argentine and European Tango, and other associated music.  With special guests  Jacqui Tate and Joanna Strand. Phantom of the Opera’s Joanna Strand brings together an exceptional group of jazz musicians and West End singers on their Sunday night off from performing on the west end stage to celebrate the songs made famous by Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel in London’s newest live music venue – Pizza Express Live, High Holborn. With arrangements of the originals in French, and new translations by Phantom of the Opera’s librettist Charles Hart, this evening’s singers will be joined by Romano Viazzani on accordion and Yaron Stavi on double bass and musical director John Bailey on piano.

Originally billed as Joanna Strand and Jacqui Tate but due to her current commitments in Les Miserábles Jacqui Tate will be unable to perform this time round. However Joanna Strand in cabaret will take you on trip through some of the many songs she has been associated with in the past and that have featured in her albums as well as one or two new ones. She will be ably assisted on accordion by Romano Viazzani, on Piano by John Bailey, on drums by Jason Reeve and on Double Bass by Nick Pini.

Always a fabulous night out and in the wonderful Art Deco surroundings of the ex-billiard room of the Regent Palace Hotel and now part of Brasserie Zedel.

Tonight she is joined by the French opera star, Olivier Dumait, who will bring his warm lyric tenor to this evening of sumptuous French masterpieces including songs by Kosma, Rogers and Hammerstein, and Glanzberg.

She will be ably backed by John Bailey on Piano, Romano Viazzani on accordion and  Yaron Stavi on Double Bass. The Crazy Cocks Cabaret as it was previously known as, has undergone a name change but Live at Zedel is still as magical a venue as it ever was.

Joanna Strand and Jacqui Tate will be back at The Pheasantry with their usual line-up of musicians to present their fabulous autumn cabaret.  Joanna Strand and Jacqui Tate have been very busy of late with their Theatre careers.  Joanna is back playing Madame Giry in Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Haymarket, where Joanna and Jacqui first met performing together on that stage and Jacqui has just finished a run in Rogers and Hammerstein’s Allegro at the Southwark Playhouse.

Romano Viazzani will be back on accordion along with John Bailey on Piano, Jason Reeve on Drums and Yaron Stavi on Double Bass. There will be some of the ladies’ staple favourites as well as some exciting new musical arrangements.  Don’t miss this event and brighten up a darkening autumnal midweek night!
